CRICKET WICKETS AND COVERS

Cricket Australia’s endorsement for 9mm - 11mm synthetic wicket surfaces integrates with the community cricket pathway and provides for the most consistent playing surface.

Community Cricket facilities are defined by their core usage and SYNERGY Turf have developed a range of artificial turf wickets providing durability and consistency in all weather conditions.

The ideal hard wicket cricket surface is manufactured with PP/PE fibrillated tape blades [FB] which combine to provide a fast pace and versatile commercial Club wicket. The bounce and pace of fibrillated tape wickets is more predictable and promotes skill development and player safety servicing Club and School competitions as well as providing for the broader cricket catchment.

A step-up in performance manufactured with “knitted” PE fibrillated tape blades [KDK] that enhance the pace delivered by good fast bowlers whilst delivering opportunity for batsmen facing the slower bowler. An all-round opportunist wicket for the talented Club player looking to step-up to the Elite arena.
A very responsive wicket surface manufactured with PE monofilament blades [MF] reacting with change of pace and length. Promoting spin with low-speed grip and bounce with high-speed bowling. Considered a good wicket taking pitch making it more difficult for batsmen to score runs positioning it as a Premier Club performing wicket.

APPROVED SYNTHETIC WICKET COVER

Synthetic cricket wickets may need to be covered during the winter season to both protect the surface and for the safety of winter sport participants.

When using a synthetic pitch cover it is important to ensure that the installed cover system meets AFL-Cricket Australia approved synthetic turf product performance and testing standards. Synthetic covers require “system” components e.g.; cushion underlay or rubber granule infill; with the granules vacuumed out prior to summer season removal. Storage of covers over the off-season is a key consideration. Issues can arise if these covers are stored whilst still wet as the moisture is unable to escape and can promote fungi growth.

Greenfields MF SYNERGY Pro system available in either 50mm or 60mm pile is a double yarn configuration of monofilament and fibrillated tape regarded as the most proven football surface system in Australia. Both 50mm and 60mm cover systems are tested to AFL-Cricket Australia criteria laid over Proplay Sport 23 performance shockpad and infilled with either SBR, TPE or Cork granules.
